Up until the last couple of years I never had much of a desire to be a mother. One of the many reasons would be that when the baby was upset it would be handed back to me. I've never had much skill in baby-whispering, so this was a scary thought. I would just be the one holding a screaming baby all the time and it wouldn't stop. Having been a mom for just over a month now I've realized something...being the mom is the whole trick. I never thought it would be so simple. You do the same calming things that everyone else does, but it works for you because you're the mommy. It's good to know that the charm is inate and not something possessed only by those with great mothering tendancy. I really do love being his favorite person.

Yay! I am so glad you figured out a name for your blog. Dylan is so cute and I love his hair! Anyway - I, too, am so glad we have the mommy factor working on our side. I'm hoping, for your self-esteem's sake, that your mother-in-law doesn't have the magical "mommy" power that mine does. Maybe it was the 10 kids she raised, or maybe it just to humble me, but my mother-in-law is the only one who can "out-mommy" me with my own kids.

I also secretly love being my kids favorite person...but then wyatt turned 3 and suddenly Ryan became the favorite. Oh well, I got 3 years, and for now I'm Izzy's favorite :)
Dylan is a sweetie....and I don't know who Matt is, but don't take the dare. don't do it...not for at least 2 years! :)
Isn't it great being the mommy? Dylan is such a cutie. Enjoy it while you can. It goes way too fast!
Matt, we all know it will be some time before Dylan relinquishes the title of only child. And then I'll be done. We all know I was never cut out for the 4+. I don't have the ambition of others.
I didn't think I'd be a good mom at all! I still may not be, but I do remember to feed my kid once in a while, and I've taught him how to make his own PB&J sandwiches, so he can feed himself if necessary!
