My brother-in-law has crazy fears, such as being sucked to the bottom of the ocean so fast that everything implodes due to the pressure before you pass out. Really what are the chances of this happening? I went parasailing with him last year and we had to have an emergency plan of escape should we actually touch the water.
I have a fear of cliff jumping. This is something that I used to do frequently, from insane heights when I was immortal. Now I'm afraid that as I get to the edge of the rock to push off, my wet foot is going to slip, I'll hit my head on the rock, then fall unconscious to the water and break my spine.
I'm also afraid of aspen groves at night. I love to go camping, but I can't look into the trees once the sun goes down because my imagination is out of control. I can see people coming toward me, slinking from tree to tree. Like some urban legend ax murder. It freaks me out pretty bad.
Tomorrow, I'll talk to an adult and expose my oddities to the world less.

It's so good to hear that you are no longer immortal. I will definitely sleep better at night now!
We actually have a friend who got really hurt while cliff jumping, so your fears there are certainly justified. Because of this friend, Seth was so nervous about cliff jumping that I had to hold his hand to get him to jump off when we were first dating (looking back, maybe it was just his sly way of getting me to hold his hand). It really is fun though!
I really lead a pretty wimpy life in comparison. My greatest fear is falling down the stairs (or up the stairs). Another fear of mine is that I will either have a booger hanging out my nose or something in my teeth and no one will tell me!
AHHH! Andrea! I thought I might find you here. How goes it?
So a baby boy, huh. I didn't think you guys would ever jump on the bandwagon.
Check out our blog! I'd love to keep in touch!
I used to have no fear of heights, but since I became a mom, I can't look down from anywhere! I can't go up to the 3rd rung on a ladder. I think I don't trust myself, like I'm going to lose all control and just fling myself off or something! Maybe it's the mom instinct that kicks in and tells us we have someone else to take care of and live for.
Well, we'll still think you are the most adventurous gal/mom we know!
Remember when we went 'digging' down in Ephraim that one night in the foothills and you seriously had a tizzy fit until we got home because you thought you kept seeing people in the trees. It was pretty hilarious on my part. Anyway, guess there's not much that we change. I still scream at night about spiders in my bed:)
That was in Ephraim, you never know what kind of inbred might be living in the hills.
Please, I am afraid of everything! I was afraid of myself when I was 3 years old! I really don't know how I have made it this far in life...
Of course, I have become a little more adventurous in the last few years. Maybe some of yours has rubbed off on me.
ok hooray that you have a blog and that you found me. i so need to stay in touch with you better. . .obviously you freakin have a baby and i didn't even know! i cannot tell you how happy i am for you! he is soooo cute and i love love that you are a mom and. . .that your parents are grandparents! i can only imagine how great this is for them as well! oongrats and thankyou again for your sweetest gift. i appreciate you thinking of me during such a hectic crazy time. it was much needed. :)
I thought of a weird fear I have. When I am up on something tall (i.e. my apartment patio, 2nd floor in a store, etc.) I think to myself, "Okay, so if I fall or have to jump off of this for some reason, what is the possibility of me surviving? What would be the best way for me to get down with minimum injury?" Yeah, you think that you have sick ideas. No wonder I am afraid of heights!
