Smokers

I have a problem with smokers, besides the fact that it's a smelly, disgusting habit.

First: they drive slow. I don't know if the nicotine makes feel so relaxed that they are in no rush to get anywhere. I have to say that their merge and acceleration skills seem to fail them when they take a drag.

Second: they fling their cigarettes out the window. We live in a desert. In the summer the roads are lined with dry grass, otherwise known as tinder. When they aren't starting fires, it's still gross litter. And it really ticks me off when it hits my car.

Just a side note; ever notice how many people waiting for the bus are smoking. Well maybe they could buy a car with the money they saved by not buying cigarettes. Or a house. (Both sets of renters that lived next door smoked; the new owner, non-smoker.) Just a stereotypical thought.

You know what drives me nuts. When people smoke in a crowded venue. Sure we are outside but honestly you can't smoke in any indoor facilities. So show a little common courtesy when we are packed in like sardines.

I want to start taking pictures of people who smoke near me. I'll tell them it is for identification purposes for the law suit I file when I get lung cancer.

Merritt works with a lot of attractive women. They spend a ton on designer clothing, have perfect hair and nails, and smell like a dirty, stinky, smokey old ash try at the mall where everyone and their dog puts out their butts. I don't get it.

I like your reasoning with the sunk cost of smoking and reality of bus travel. Just keep mentioning it to little D. One day when he sees smoking, he'll shame the smokers into putting it away. Bug always takes the opportunity to loudly ask, "what's that stinking so bad?" I say, "it's disgusting cigarette smoke my boy." In our loud voices.

You know that a person that smokes a pack a day spends over $1500 on cigarettes alone in one year? That is a very old study, so add inflation on that for today's world. Not to mention, doctors bills, missed work, etc. Yeah.

Hopefully they just outlaw it so those of us that want to go to Little Texas/Blackhawk/Restless Heart concerts at an outside rodeo barn can sing along at the top of our lungs without choking, coughing, or feeling like we need a drag ourselves by the end.

this is such a passionate subject for me. Try going to Huntsman to your Lung Cancer doctor and smell all the cigs on patients there. It is all I can do to stay nice and civil. All I can say is It must be really really really tough to stop. It's the young kids that smoke that make me want to strangle them. cuz they know better. maybe if you are over 60 you didn't know what you were getting yourself into. my brother was hypnotized and he never picked up a cig again. Good on him.. Laura

I don't think I know any one more repulsed by cigarettes (and therefore smokers) than me! I just had to come here to your blog and say that.

For some reason it's OK to litter if it's just the disgusting little wretched butts that poopy mouthed people have been sucking on and slobbering their cancerous DNA all over (not very Christlike, huh?)

I have family members that do the stinky thing (smoke) and it's sad, because you want to love them, but ugh!

My dad smoked in the car with the windows rolled up when I was a youngin and I was always green and car sick. Maybe this is why I detest it so.

I just can't think of anything more disgusting. I'd rather watch people eat their own feces than smoke (sorry, but for me it's about equally as disgusting).

Have I made my point on this subject? Thanks for letting me get all this off my chest. I doubt I'll offend any of my loved ones here since I'm unkown. I feel much better now...

Hmmm, debating on whether to publish this comment. Ah, what the heck, you can obviously delete it if you want.

Now I need to go repent and figure out how to have more charity toward my fellow man.

I've tried telling Tim that if he wouuld just kick the habit that he wouldn't have to take the bus but he is hooked...what can I say. No really, I can't stand smoking. When Gage saw someone somking in the car next to us he asked what smoking was and I informed him, "Someone's disgusting, gross, habit!"

From an X-smoker, it is amazing how much I hate the smell. It is a dirty smell. It is so unfair to go to a restaurant and have a nice meal, then come out the door and have to inhale that awful smell. I also have students that come to school smelling like smoke. They have expressed to me how much they hate that their parents smoke. Isn't that a form of child abuse? They face rejection by their peers because of the smell, too. Sure it's a tough habit to kick, but it can be done. Just stop doing it. I did. It's a choice. If you choose to smoke, it's a selfish choice. Bughunter is right on!
