Hey, Big Haircut

Dylan got his 1st haircut today at Cookie Cutters. It's a magical place, regardless of the fact that he cried through the whole thing. Wes just got home and is apparently ticked that I paid money for it. He thinks he could do better. Anyway, it's done. It's no longer in his eyes, down his neck, or over his ears. But plan on it being more messy than this.

Team Sorting

We did another sorting event last night at the Golden Spike Arena. I got to ride my beautiful black horse as you can see. Isn't he a handsome beast? I feel like I just look prettier when I'm on him; like when we're cantering around the arena with my hair flying behind me. That's why my hair's curled today. We got home so late and had to get up early for church, so there was no time to wash all the dust out of my hair. It looked like a snarly horse tail, but I digress. I rode with Wes and had the satisfaction of him being disgruntled about not being the best at something. He's read all about horses so knows how to ride in theory, but has only been on a horse a handful of times. If you think he's walking a little funny today it's because he tries so hard to control the horse that all his muscles are tensed all the time. You could say he rides on the horse, but not with the horse.

This is Tiffany and Cindy who I do the horse therapy with. Cindy ended up winning one of the rounds in 42 something seconds. On the last run we're pretty sure Tiffany and Cindy finished in time, bt they said they didn't.Wes and I also finished in time, but they said that we didn't. Which was pretty good considering one of the cow's head got stuck in the fence while Wes was trying to drive him through. And I was kicking my horse as hard as I could, but I didn't have any spurs that fit me. I would really like some spurs. It was freezing, but I'm going to do it again on Feb 7th, the last one of the season.:(

Facebook

I joined Facebook last week at work so that I could play this game called MobWars with the people there. (We were really slow.) So I invited my co-workers to be my friends so we could all be in a mob together. I'm kind of feeling like the last person on the planet to join Facebook. I just haven't been interested in it. But it's like the ultimate in internet stalking. I'm too embarrassed to ask most people to be my friends unless I talk to them on a regular basis. Even relatives, I'm too embarrassed. I feel like a major voyeur. So I've just been kind of sitting back and waiting for people to find me and ask me to be thier friend. I'm kind of a chicken. Blogging feels less in your face. Just peruse at your leisure.

Things That Make Me Happy Today

1. My house is finally clean from Dylan's party.

2. My driveway is shovelled.

3. I'm going to a movie tonight with Toni and OJ.

4. My awesome boots that fit under my pants and keep my feet dry.

5. My awesome stroller that goes anywhere regardless of whether anyone else has shovelled.

6. My dog, who in her dotage is very well behaved.

7. The shirt I got at Old Navy for $6.50.

8. That I might get to wear that shirt team sorting on Saturday.

9. Last night I packed up all the bottles, binkis, burp cloths, and receiving blankets.

10. I have neighbors who I can borrow stuff from, and who borrow stuff from me.

11. Mela cleans up all of Dylan's food, even though that means she has yogurt on her.

12. The book I want to read was at Barnes and Nobel where I had a gift card.

13. I have friends who ask for help and I can ask them.

14. It's beautiful, and sunny, and warm outside.

15. I didn't mop my kitchen floor today, because Mela tracked in mud.

The only thing I'm sad about is that I'm not skiing. But if I was all of these other things wouldn't have happened.

I'll love you forever

Have you ever read the book, I'll Love You Forever, I'll Like You For Always? This little scene reminded me of that cover. I thought it was funny, but Wes was kind of irritated that he unrolled the toilet paper.

Dylan's 1st Birthday

We did this cowboy themed. I thought it was only fair since we did pirates for Halloween. People, I have learned my lesson. I went way too overboard with this party for a baby. The food wasn't ready and I didn't even have makeup on when people started showing up, further elevating my stress level. I spent way too much money and decided to make food way too complicated for too many people, even though it was just family.(Turks are family) Dylan got spoiled rotten. Someone tell me birthday hype dies rapidly with age. Thanks to my parents again for all of thier help. I wouldn't have been able to pull this off half so well without it.
Dylan was way more psyched about opening presents on his birthday than he was on Christmas. He yelled and clapped with each one.Check out this cute boot cake made by Shelly Urry from Granite Bakery. It was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. One of the few cakes I'll eat and it was delicious.Dylan smiled and waved his arm around while we sang Happy Birthday. Just after I almost burned my poor grandpa with wax.Wes and I got him this pop up tunnel and tepee set that he wasn't too thrilled about going through. So I'm going through with him, but just barely.
I am so grateful to have this happy healthy little boy. Because I never want to do this again. For all the trouble we had getting him here then keeping him here those first couple of weeks, I will never take for granted the true blessing and miracle that he is. I just expected him to be walking by now. He did everything else early.

Smith Ugly Sweater Party

The Smith parties get a little out of control, but I don't stop laughing the entire time. We had an ugly sweater contest where Melissa wore this homemade doosy, courtesy of Laura. Wes was the runner up. Wes' grandma with dementia opened the condoms in the white elephant exchange at first exclaiming that she didn't know what the purple box was, then when she was told saying, "I don't want any sex." Her grandkids were however kind enough to award her with the most beautiful sweater in the contest. This is Wes' Uncle Lane wearing his Uncle Gary's favorite hat that his wife managed to sneak here from Georgia to put in the exchange. I would say Gary is a pretty easy going dude, but he was throwing things when his favorite hat got opened.

Christmas

Better late than never. I got an awesome new camera for Christmas and took a bajillion pictures. Lucky for you Blogger can't handle them all. So these are the highligts.
We got a Wii and didn't even see it coming.Sledding down the stairs at Wes' parents.

We're spoiled rotten. Thanks so much everyone.
